100 MILLION PIXELS
(for each eye)
Using the C6 at Iowa State University's Virtual Reality Application Center, HCI Graduate student Tom Batkiewicz demonstrates the UAV environment for visitor Don Norman. The C6 is a three-dimensional, full-immersion, synthetic environment. It boasts a 4000x4000 pixel resolution per wall, for a total of 100 million pixels in this fully-immersive environment. Forty-eight dual-cpu workstations send images to 24 Sony SRX-S105 digital cinema projectors, providing an intensely detailed, high-resolution, immersive experience for researchers and other participants. One of the key projects taking place in the C6 is research around the virtual teleoperation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV's). This project is funded by Air Force Office of Scientific Research.
