Larry Cathey has been involved in driving simulation for the last thirteen
years as part of Ford Motor Company's driving simulation group. During that period,
he has lead and participated in numerous research and development projects.
Some key accomplishments include the design and implementation of the dome and image generation system
currently used in VIRTTEX, the design and implementation of the virtual
environments used in VIRTTEX and the design and implementation of the vehicle
cabs used in VIRTTEX.
Larry has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Wayne State Universtity
in Detroit, Michigan. He also has a Master's degree in Electrical and Computer
Control Systems from Wayne State University. He is a member the IMAGE Society
and ACM. His research interests currently involve the the efficient design and
construction of virtuals environments, how to best enhance
visual resolution of driving simulators and using vehicle
simulators to advance active safety concepts and testing.
