ENVIRONMENT MODELING
SIG

MISSION:

The purpose of the Image Society Environment Modeling Special Interest Group (SIG) is to provide a forum for the free exchange of technical information regarding the generation of all features (terrain, texture, 3D objects, animation & special effects, etc) in any computer generated virtual environment - i.e. the database.

The topics which are selected for discussion or for paper presentations are proposed to the SIG Chair by individual members. Some of the more popular (and sometimes controversial) topics are:

• Geographic database geodetic control
• Exploitation of sensors for feature extraction
• Integration of cultural features and terrain
• Urban terrain and models
• Texture
• 3D objects
• Animation & special effects
• Source data acquisition

SIG members, even as they define the purpose of the Environment Modeling SIG, also simultaneously define its fulfillment. The Environment Modeling SIG is member directed.
