MISSION:
The mission of the Ground Vehicle Simulation SIG is to advance the state of knowledge and level of understanding required for the development of simulators appropriate for the training of operators, design of ground vehicles, and conducting human factors
research.
Current topics under consideration include :
- Creating visual and data bases appropriate for ground vehicle simulation
- Developing tools for generating correlated databases
- Modeling vehicle dynamics and the tire/pavement interface
- Writing Scenario Control models that allow both deterministic simulations and repeatable experiments
- Identifying the effects of motion system fidelity and realism on experimental protocols
- Designing control loading systems for ground vehicle simulators
- Evaluating image generator performance in terms of parameters specific to ground vehicles
- Studying recent advancements in basic simulation technology
Some of the SIG members include representatives of:
- Major automobile manufacturers (worldwide)
- Military users of ground vehicles
- Simulator manufacturers
- Image generator and work station manufacturers
- Display system vendors
- Simulator system integrators
- Database modelers
- Software developers
- Vehicle Dynamicists
- Human Factors Researchers
- University faculty
- Equipment trainers
