Mr. Woytus leads the effort to create Synthetic Environments for pilot
training at Boeing's St Louis Training Systems and Services division.
Mr. Woytus earned a BS in Computer Science from the University of
Missouri at Rolla in 1987. Immediately following, he started his career
in visual simulation on the VITAL product at McDonnell Douglas
Electronic Systems Company in St Charles, Missouri. His primary role
was to code runtime software for special effects. Other duties included
integration of software, hardware, and databases at customer sites.
This exposure to the synthetic environment led to a natural interest in
their creation.
When the VITAL product line was purchased by FlightSafety International
in 1993, Mr. Woytus stayed with the VITAL team as Manager of the
Database Engineering department. During this time, he was instrumental
in developing various enhancements to the database compiler, editors,
and imagery capture and processing capabilities. Mr. Woytus also
developed key modeling processes while integrating several
state-of-the-art modeling suites, creating efficient and comprehensive
methods for modeling synthetic environments.
In 2001, Mr. Woytus joined The Boeing Company's PC-IG department to
build a database engineering workforce. He continues his work there
leading a team of engineers building environments for various image
generators.
