Contrast improvement technologies for LCoS projectors

ABSTRACT
In modern simulation applications, contrast ratios and black levels are very important to realize high fidelity night training. Traditionally LCoS projectors have shown very high contrast ratios. Contrasts are typically limited by the native contrast level of the LCoS chips, the optical engine design and the polarisation behaviour of optical components inside the optical engine. In this paper, we will describe and characterize new technologies in LCoS projectors that allow contrast ratios that are 4x higher than what previously was possible.
